Special needs Elementary School SRVUSD

Hello Parents,

We have a first grader diagnosed with ADHD and Autism with IEP at school. They are struggling with keeping up with grade-level academics. Are there any schools in the area that cater to special needs kids? I'm afraid the public school is not working out for them.

Parents in the tri-valley (San Ramon, Danville, Pleasanton, Dublin), could you please share recommendations on what has worked/ is working for you? Are there any tutoring options to consider or private schools perhaps?

SRVUSD has generally excellent special education programs.  If your son needs more academic support, I would ask for an IEP meeting in writing and consider hiring an advocate to review his IEP and help make sure he's getting all of the support he needs. He may need a different placement, different goals, more services, etc.  As for tutoring, I would recommend looking into a certified educational therapist- they specialize in teaching neurodivergent learners.
